The police in Maharashtra’s Thane metropolis have registered a case towards an industrial unit for alleged energy theft of over Rs 24 lakh, the Maharashtra State Electrical energy Distribution Firm Restricted (MSEDCL) mentioned on Tuesday.

Throughout raids on the premises of Indian Technical Works at Shivai Nagar, it was discovered that the electrical energy meter had been modified and a distant equipment was getting used for stealing energy, the division said in a launch.

The institution had stolen 1,35,466 items of electrical energy, which works out to greater than Rs 24.72 lakh, it was said.

Based mostly on a criticism by the facility firm, a case has been registered towards Ajmal Jamal Sayyad, the proprietor of the commercial unit, beneath related sections of the Indian Electrical energy, it was said.
